Old RM question (which book has...)
« on: September 24, 2018, 09:10:15 AM »
A very long time ago I played RM. Well I decided to rummage through my old storage bins the other day and I found my old books (2E I believe). Now I recall that there was an optional percentile table for character creation that gave a random special ability, perk, bonus, etc...

But for the life of me I cannot figure out which book/page. I do not think it was Talent Law...but may be wrong.

Any help appreciated and thanks!

Practically the whole of Talent Law is what you’ve described for RMSS (or Character Law for RMFRP).

...but for RM2, it’s Character Law & Campaign Law p90-92  :)

Yup, what Craggles said: you have version 3/4(RMSS/RMFRP) if you have a Talent Law named book.

Besides RM2 ChLCL, If you do have any kind of Rolemaster Companions, RM Companion I was another great RM2 book that had a whacktonne of ways to spend background options.

PS, welcome back to the party, backwards Wanderer!

They’re Rolemaster 2 (RM2) editions for future reference.  :D

If ever you’re not sure which editions are which in the future, ICEWebRing is an amazing resource and has images of the books as well.

It can be confusing at first but...
  • RM Classic (RMC) is a reprinting of the core RM2 books.
  • RM Fantasy Roleplaying (RMFRP) is a reorganising of RM Standard System (RMSS).

The books with background options are the Ch&CL, the RoCo I, the "Oriental Companion", the "Arms Companion", and "Talent Law", with RoCo IV giving some rules to manage them. In addition, one may use the chaotic tables (especially the gift and geas tables) in the RoCo III as well.
The world was then consumed by darkness, and mankind was devoured alive and cast into hell, led by a jubilant 紗羽. She rejoiced in being able to continue serving the gods, thus perpetuating her travels across worlds to destroy them. She looked at her doll and, remembering their promises, told her: "You see, my dear, we succeeded! We've become legends! We've become villains! We've become witches!" She then laughed with a joyful, childlike laughter, just as she kept doing for all of eternity.
