Somewhat off-topic, but a bit of ICE/Rolemaster ancient history. Long ago, in the late 70's, there was a place on the grounds (campus)at UVa called Pavillion XI (It was basically a bar and a bit of an in-joke, because Jefferson designed his Academical Village with Ten Pavillions). Olivia had recently graduated and was the manager, and I was a student, and because we both lived in Pittsburgh suburbs, we became ride-along to home visits friends. Olivia was fascinated with Pete's middle earth game, and in fact I introduced them (and they have been happily married for many years now).
ANYWAY, Olivia and I shared a fascination with the ending of LotR where Elrond, Gandalf and Galadriel shared some kind of mental communication, that had really not been talked about before. And that was the origin of Rolemaster Mentalism, as something separate from magical power, something that the powerful Elves had.
It only just occurred to me how much the movies used this (from our games? Who knows) How Galadriel could look into the minds of the fellowship, and later, how she called out to Elrond to aid men as he stood looking out the window.
"Will you let them stand alone?"
And of course in the first Hobbit movie, where Galadriel and Gandalf have a private mental conversation while Saruman prattles on.
Thoughts?
