Disengage from melee
« on: November 05, 2010, 05:55:40 PM »
Quote
1. Declared a disengagement as his combat action.
2. Beyond the melee weapons range of all enemies.
3. Beyond Range Increment 5 (RI 5) for the
missile weapons of all enemies or they have no
line-of-sight.
4. Outside the elemental or attack spell range of all
enemies or they have no line-of-sight.
5. Outside the Base Movement Rate of all enemies.

That are the rules of disengaging in the martial law book
Ok, short question.

Kenan is moved daydreaming in a line of five bandits. 3 with longsword, one with a unprepared shortbow and one mage (preparing a elemental ball).
He stopped and will run back(disengage) The bandits wan´t to attack   him only with the swords, and rolling an initive of 10. Kenan declared his disengage maneuver an win`s the ini with a 15. He runs 3*12feet back. So he have a distance of 36 feet at the end of the turn.

In order of rule 3. He is inside of the range increament of the shortbow RI 5 = 150feet. And inside of the elemental or attack spell range of the mage.
So he isn`t able to disengage this turn?

Hi,
Still in INitiative range if the bad guys want to attack him that much as #5 applies. If they can close the distance (they move faster than his BMR) then they will close the distance - its just a matter of time... Then you may want to look at exhaustion point rules in the HARP core...
