The only thing that is a bit annoying with the D20-Fied is that I normally have to copy and paste spells, and then edit them by dividing everything by 5 for the players.
We use the D20ified option on the OpenOffice character sheet, and that changes everything that needs to be changed for you.  If there's something else you're referring to, I may be missing it.

Of course, my main mage has a grimoire he made, where he retypes all the spell info from the book for each of his spells into a document that he keeps printed out for quick reference in game, so he may be doing what you're doing for himself, and I'm just not being hassled with it.

D20?!  Heaven forbid!

I'm just starting to look at HARP and get a feel for it.  Not sure if we will try a campaign with this system.  It looks good but I think I'll stick to RMC (I like crunchy).  The way that I have solved the problem with math is that I pulled most of my group from coworkers (Pharmacy techs).  They know how to do math in their head quickly. So I guess as a GM you can simplify your life by going back to 1-100, but giving all your players a "Math for Dummies" book - and a Soda so that they do not take it personal ;-).

Seriously, though, why put yourself through all the extra prep?  Doing double digit addition becomes quite easy with a little bit of practice and it is far more manly (D20 is for girly men).

Armory Dave,

What are you finding that you like better about HARP over RM?  As noted, I've just started looking at the system.  I do like the idea of scalable spells but still not sure what merits it has over RM other than it appears to be simpler and less crunchy.  For some this is good, but I like the extra detail that RM can provided if wanted.  Anyway what are your thoughts?

Instead of dividing everything (but the die roll) by 5, why not just multiple the die roll by 5?  ???

Just curious.  ;D
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

For me the spell system is much more diverse.  Some spell lists I didn't see much worth in - ie an 8th level spell to help identify magic items and all it does is give an approximation of the power/purpose?  I'm not investing development for 3 levels for that weak information.

The whole spell system alone would have sold me on HARP.  Scalable spells are one of the best ideas ever, and I have to say I think the mechanics pull it off great.  More as I get to know HARP better....
