Iconic Characters on the three core rulebooks.
« on: January 13, 2010, 05:25:32 AM »
This has just propped into my head, while I'm seeing covers of RMC Character Law, Arms Law, and Spell Law.

I believe those three covers are among the coolest things that RM Classic provides us, and each of them contains one attractive figure that stirs our imagination.

Why not give them, their names, backgrounds (maybe in Cyradon?), stats, etc and make them the "Iconic Characters" of RMC? You can call for ideas on this board, and put them into popularity polls, etc etc ... and perhaps ICE can "call" those iconic characters to assist for future publications, like, for example, putting their stats as pre-rolled characters in the back of adventure scenarios, etc.

How about it? 8)

I like it.

A fine idea indeed. What about weaving a story about them, a short novel for example.

I like the ones done by Angus McBride for the RMSS covers. Those could be some interesting characters.

Well, if you are going to do them in RMC (the books they are on) then it shouldn't be Cyradon as that is HARP. I think just making them for a generic fantasy setting would be best.

But Rolemaster Cyradon (based on RM Classic/Express rulesets) will come in the not-so-far future, wont't it? ;)

I'd love to see them, too. Especially, the lion man. I guess he is from a certain sub-group of Idiyva (cat-men) race, featured in RMFRP "Races & Culture" (or in "Express Additions" #6 and "Creatures & Treasures" if it comes to RMC/X, IIRC).

BTW, in terms of RMC/X generic races, I guess the character on the Character Law cover is either a High Elf or a Fair Elf (may be High Elf? I don't know why but, as a Fair Elf, I think she should have much more shimmering aura on her). Profession must be a non-spell user or semi-spell user. (The best fitted one would be Champion, IMO, but you know, it's not in the core rulebooks.)

I didn't know that. If so, then sure.

I like the soldier dude, with the metal (mithril?) breastplate and the cool sword.

We'll see...
But if ICE does decide to make "iconic" characters, it would probably be best if they were setting neutral.
A military solution isn't the only answer, just one of the better ones.
