Well, its beard, that?s for sure. I like it, although I find some of the abilities a bit confusing, maybe due to my less than adequate reading abilities.
1) fly-by-attack seems to refer to "extra attacks" for moving away, this makes me think of DnD, and I was under the impression that HARP didn?t have free attacks, AoO or extra attacks for moving away from being adjacent... am I wrong? or what exactly are you referring to?
2) How many attacks can it use in any given round? and/or in what combination?
3) The wing buffeting effect, is this in addition to the unbalancing crit? or instead of?
4) The elemental weapon, nice. I gather that no roll is required, just expenditure of PPs or, evil forbid, hit points.
5) The strafing, has to me some odd wording (see above about reading abilities), but I guess what is intended is that it cover 4x the ball area (unscaled ball?) and does a tiny to everyone in the area? Its perhaps the flavoured writing that confuses me.
I don?t envy your players, but I do envy you
I find it very powerful, but given that you have designed this for a specific adventure and group of adventurers, I can?t really say if its too powerful. I mean, its Beard, loads of nice abilities/talents, but then, its from the abyss. I mean, all it takes is one lucky shot and its a goner, but you can?t design for such an event, except by giving it fate points (which I?m not sure I would do, or if its allowed by RAW), so barring a 100 pluss another open-ended or two, this would certainly give your players a challenge, I suppose, even kill some of them. I hope they have some magical weapons, at least a dagger or two, that way they will have a chance...
As I don?t have any high level players (as in above 10th level) this creature is too powerful for any of my needs, and my experience with such high level play is limited to none. I think it would work nicely (if such a word can be used).
