HARP core book - PDF v. hardcopy
« on: March 17, 2009, 06:12:16 PM »
I just noticed that my hardcopy of the core rule book is different than the PDF.  E.g., the limited visibility section (pg. 76) in the hardcopy has the sentences "The following condition descriptions give vision ranges based upon normal vision.  Refer to the table at the bottom of the page for other types of vision," followed by the table at the bottom of the page.  The PDF has neither those sentences nor the table.  I also noticed a page earlier that there's a paragraph that appears at the end of page that doesn't appear until the following page in the PDF.

I'm guessing I have an outdated PDF.  I just bought both the book and the PDF a few weeks ago.  Is there an updated PDF available, and if so, can I get ahold of it?

I have noticed the same in my pdf and my soft cover version of the rulebook, albeit my placeholder and LE have this table, the soft cover and pdf don?t. Interesting. Wonder what else differs between these... I am pretty sure that both my soft cover and my pdf are of the revised "edition"... hmmm... oh well...

That paragraph you mention is most likely moved because of the size of the picture on the bottom of the page, its smaller in the hardcover/LE than in the (my) soft cover (and therefore the PDF I guess).

I wonder if the soft cover and pdf sold today include the table you mention, or if they don?t. I mean, if you have the codex you get it, updated for the Enhanced Vision talent, so in such a case its a-ok... but its nice to know, so thanks for the heads up.

Okay, what happened was as follows:

After one big printing of HARP, while working on creating the LEs (the Hard Cover uses the same interior files), we decided to add in that table (to help clarify things regarding vision ranges). Any other changes done at that time were nothing more than typo corrections or such, IIRC. The placing of that table pushed some of the text to the next page (and maybe the page after), but not a lot.

The person in charge of the online store at the time was supposed to update the PDF, and we were supposed to update the soft cover book on the next print run (several months down the road at least). Unfortunately, I moved from Va to Ga before that time, and due to that and other things, we all forgot completely about it.

Sherry is making me a new version of the PDF right this minute and once it is done, I will upload it to the store, and those of you who purchased it from the store can then re-download it from your account history.

I will also post page 76 (and any other affected pages) of the PDF in the Vault for the folks who purchased the soft cover. We are also now fixing things so that future printings of the soft cover are correct.

Okay, it was pages 75 & 76 that got slightly shifted. For those wishing to download those 2 pages - you can find them here ---> http://www.ironcrown.com/ICEforums/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item695

For those who purchased the PDF from the Online Store, you can just go back to the store and login and then go to "My Account" and find the order where you purchased it and redownload the new version without any other hassles.

The same applies for those who purchased the 3000/4300 PDF value pack as well as the HARP value pack that includes the core book.

Hm. My HARP book isn't showing in my account, but I did buy it a few years ago when different software was used.

there are files in the vault me believes that could be downloaded, whilst this doesn?t necessarily make it perfect, it means that the pages are there, if the table is desired and one doesn?t have the updated table in the Codex (with the enhanced vision talent stuff included).

Anything purchased prior to ICE moving to the current store software will not show in your account.

If a person loses their PDFs, ICE will go through the tedious and time consuming search of the files from the old store to find out exactly what was purchased, and then give that person a coupon for those items (PDFs only...).

No worries, Tim. But thanks for the answer. As has been mentioned, the pages are in the vault. Now, let's just keep our fingers crossed that I do not lose my pdfs!  ;D

Yes.
I agree.
Such a breath of fresh air amid this 4e/pdf debacle.
