Monks vs. Warrior Monks
« on: January 13, 2020, 08:18:31 AM »
I'm trying to think of some good examples of monks vs. warrior monks in popular culture so I can give my group a quick and easy description of the differences. Something that shows a warrior monk being better at the direct combat aspect but the monk having all sorts of wuxia powers.

Help!

I tell them its the difference between Bruce Lee type monk and a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon type monk.

We've looked at it as monks that specialized in the physical, agility, combat focus for fighting, self-defense, temple guard, crusade type missions, vs. the monks who focus more into the spiritual and mystical elements.

Thinking like Kung Fu Panda.  Tiger, Monkey, Crane, Mantis vs. the mystical skills of Ooguay and eventually Po when he taps into the Ska-doosh.

Both Hurin and Ginger McMurray have nailed it on this one.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Scratch that. Power attracts the corruptible.
