Help and advice please
« on: September 04, 2014, 07:22:06 PM »
Dear all, I need some help with charcter generation.
My  group are  basically the Star Trek away team and we get beamed down and left on a planet to get intel on the planets inhabitants in a bid to find out if they are suitable to be part of the empire. We are equipped as the natives are and do not carry any tech.

My character is a Special Forces medic and this is where I need the advice, does RM have a character for the RM 2 edition. A modern one will be fine I just wanted the combat/medical skills that go with it along with the points cost. I have thought about just using a fighter class but then the medical skills are so exspensive. I know the Black Ops book does have this but we do not use those rules.

Can anyone help.

Thanks

Hmmm.  Is there a talent in RM2 that is effectively "Special Training"?

Space Master: Privateers has the skill set you want.  What you want is the SM:P version of Character Law.  The name escapes me  :-[
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

IM RM2

There aren't any optiosn that still end up with decent combat skills too..

The scholar is the best "Non-Fighter Non Magic using" profession with Medical skills.
The "No profession" has about the same cost in first aid and second aid as a fighter, but slightly better costs in  surgery.

2/6 , 3/7 , 5 respectively ( the fighter has a cost of 7 in surgery)

If I remember correctly the SpaceMaster Criminologist was pretty good at almost everything because of cheap skill costs across the board and AG was a really important stat in SM.

There is Outlaw which is wild west, Space Master (future), Rapiers Point (I think out it as French Revolution or into to gunpowder) but no suppliment is just pure modern IMHO.

there is the Companion VI. It has a Few" Science Fantasy" professions to bridge the gap between the two systems...
It also has the unified skill point system... but it only lists Professions from RM2 and not the Professions from SM.
