Cool products: action and spell cards
« on: November 14, 2012, 10:08:25 PM »
You know what would be cool? Combat action in an easy to use playing card shape. I know there was a product like that a few years ago. I don't know if it sold well, but it would be really great. (I'm a boardgame player too. :) )

And something similar for spells: you could assemble them together and create your personal spell book!

While at it, why not for monsters too! Eh, I could at least dream a little bit. :)

Good idea but those kind of things need a lot of art and I would doubt that they have a budget that big create those products....shame though. Still a good idea.

Have to say I own that product and the concept is good but I haven't actually used it.  Most likely if I was running a real campaign instead of a mini-game with just my son they would be handier

Agreed, those cards are pretty nifty. And it really is a shame that they are not longer available since the products are sold via rpgnow.  :(

By the way, the old cards (stock # 3102) did not have any artwork. Would be nice, tough.  8)

That reminds me to ask for similar cards in the HARP SF part of the forum.  ;D

I like this idea especially for spells.  I just assembled a spell book for my daughter into power point, created a colored cover and back and printed it out and she bound it up.  these were her spells from the many she could choose from.

actually, I think you could go to ways with this:  (1) spell cards, which you then select your "deck" as your "book", or

(2) Have a program that generates your spell book through a Q&A, and then you hit print and it prints it all out so that it can be folded and bound.

for combat, i think its less useful on a standard game and i would rather have a pc based monster generator or monster book to work with as a GM.

I could see cards being more useful for initiative.  I am almost certainly going to go there for that as they serve as handy markers to see who goes when.

This +1!
even if the spell cards were simply laid out at the back of the CoM pdf so they could all be printed off would make life very very easy

I love the old cards, we still use them. It's a great way to keep players honest and plays into the 2 second rounds really well. I love the idea of reissuing them with the new rules in a standard playing card size, they would be easy to sleeve. The spell cards for a spell book would be awesome. please please please do this!

I've made my own cards in colored paper and have sleeved them in 41x63 mm sleeves. This size is really handy and visible enough in a normal sized table.
