I'm just about to throw a curve ball at my SM party and send them to Kulthea. Anything in particular you want me to try out with them?

Excellent! Just the Flows randomly interfering with their technology. Small devices usually work (like for Patrick) but any vehicle could hit a flow and lose power. Flow are like terrible electromagnetic flux waves. Image Kulthea as having a much larger than earth electromagnetic field, and it keeps shifting... and go from there, have fun!

Keep voting! And if you have read the Shadowstone novel,

You know that Andraax is messing with the Crown powers, and that a new power is rising in Urulan. What is he up to?

First, I like the idea of mixing magic and tech to a degree, so I like having the settings together.

I'm just about to throw a curve ball at my SM party and send them to Kulthea. Anything in particular you want me to try out with them?
I did something like this once. The group crashed in the Kuum-Khaan Jungle (did I spell that right?), a particularly dangerous place.

Terry, just to get something straight: humans were both brought to Kulthea by the Althans and the Taranians crashed during the Second Age, right? Just trying to get it all clear in my head.

Well humans were on Kulthea long before the Taranians crashed there. THe Althans had an empire spanning much of this part of the galaxy long ago, long before the Taranians or the 'current' Terran empire. How the Althans came here may still be uncertain....

I have always gotten the impression that the Althans were a space faring race, the only thing keeping their leaders (the K'taa'viir) on Kulthea was the Essaence flow on that world which was he only place they could do magic. Is this not the case? Weren't the Althans the (something starting with an 'S') Harbingers mentioned in the Spacemaster books, responsible for uplifting several species and spreading them to multiple worlds?

I've run campaign starting from League of Merchants background to the East (my own version with RMSS/ SM:privateers system) and found it very pleasant playing combo. When players obviously got some souvenirs from SW I had to rationalize mithril as material etc. (my players are physicists and information scientists...)

I described East to be under planetary shield (emanating from the Eyes). Shield was  so complex that it actually had very complex shell structure and a few shuttle sized routes through .  The structure was not possible to map even with sensors  -  to the ground and to space it seemed to be of  uniform thickness - they crash landed on the shield and while skimming on it, through it and under it they recorded all flight data and thus were  able to navigate back to space...

Of course they had stowaway K'Ta'Viiri in their shuttle when they managed to get off Kulthea...

I'm very interested of Patric O's and other TARA agents operation base and transportation methods to and from Kulthea - it can't be one way ticket?

Will we know if V'Gliin from the adventure in Lost Telepath is in fact Andraax ?
Will we know if the Heart of K'Ta'Viir from same adventure is the Shadowstone ?

And what about V'lir K'Taan and Moryn Kaldo ?

Really I've always loved the fact that Kulthea was neatly tied into something bigger ( the Spacemaster Universe at that time ) and that there was hints on both side that there was something strange on the other side. ( stranded Imperials on Kulthea and relics of the K'Ta'Viiri past in the Spacemaster Universe )

Oh and you have no idea how many times I've (ab)used the ties between both.
