Loremaster module in second boxed set
« on: July 30, 2010, 06:31:17 PM »
Hello. I'm a Rolemaster and MERP fan. Lately I'm trying to buy old Rolemaster books and modules for my collection of roleplaying games. I'd like to answer a question because different sites give contradictory information. Does anyone know first hand what was the Loremaster module which came in the box of the second edition? I'm talking about the box with a cover with a giant cat attacking a group of adventurers (this one: http://www.icewebring.com/ICE_Products/RM2/RM2_1000_Rolemaster_Box1984.php). Some web sites say that it was Vog Mur, but the Wikipedia says it was Cloudlords of Tanara and that Vog Mur appeared in the boxed set prior to this one. I'm confused and there's not much information in the web about this sets. Thank you.

It is possible that the old ICE started off putting one module in the box set and then later changed to the other one (given that the old ICE tended to tweak the Arms Law tables with every printing, this is a very real possibility).

I don't know for sure myself, but I have forwarded the question to somebody who might.

Well it seems likely it was Vog Mur although to be honest I am not 100% sure. Vog Mur was a smallish book and we printed a bijillion at a magazine printer to use like this. Cloudlords was a much bigger book and it was unlikely we would have used it as a freebie.

I will dredge around in my memory though.

The copy of that box that I have had Vog Mur, but I did get that box as a used item so I can't say for sure that it was what was originally in there.

It was Vog mur. I ended up with several copies at one point. I think I still have two.

I think that might be a giant rat or a were-rat and not a cat. But I could be wrong on that. Not that it makes much of a difference that is.

Thank you all for answering so incredibly quickly. Oh, and yes, it seems to be a giant rat.

I think the correct answer is both.
Iirc I've seen the 2nd ed. box with both Vog mur and Cloudlords of tanara.

No problem I just wanted to point that out after looking at your link. Maybe it was a cat with a bad hair day? Or one of those giant rodents from south Asia that have been mistaken for cats.

A RoUS from the Princess Bride perhaps?

That word you keep using...
I do not think it means what you think it means...

LOL!
