HARP Ruleset for FantasyGroundsII?
« on: March 18, 2010, 09:46:22 AM »
Hiya.

Just wondering if anyone (re: ICE?) has thought about putting out a "ruleset" addon for Fantasy Grounds II. It has Rolemaster Classic (which I bought), but it's not HARP. I'd love to be able to play HARP online with a few others; having the computer do a lot of the 'math work' appeals to me. I have never felt comfortable trying to mix-n-match face to face RPG gaming with a laptop sitting next to me. It just seems...weird.

Anyway, for those who don't know what FGII is... http://www.fantasygrounds.com/

...the desolate sound of wind blows by, zephyrs quickly dance in the dry sand, a tumbleweed bounces lazily by...and somewhere, off in the distance, a dog barks...

...I'm guessing that's a big fat no... *sigh*

I think I downloaded the RM version of the rules but never used them. Have to look into them again before I could comment on whether I think I would use or need a HARP ruleset.

Do you have experience with the RM ruleset?

Hiya.

Yeah, I have the Rolemaster ruleset too. It's a bit "convoluted" to use, but it could just be a matter of getting used to it all. :)

I think a HARP ruleset would rock...I don't think it needs to be as detailed as the Rolemaster version...mainly just the formulas for stuff, rolling and chart looking up. Maybe a list of what book and page to find the skills/spells for the specifics and a quick little description of the spell/skill/ability/etc core.

As for experience with the Rolemaster rules...I know enough to be dangerous, but not enough to really know what I'm doing. :)

I was one of the developers of the RM ruleset and I think what it really comes down to is manpower.   I'm too busy to do any sort of HARP ruleset and the main developer of the RM ruleset is also busy with other things for the foreseeable future.   If some people willing to put in the time to make a HARP ruleset contact Smiteworks USA (the Fantasy Ground company) I'm sure they would be willing to proceed with it.    The good news is the RM ruleset could provide a framework and much of the code for the combat tracker portion of it, but it still would require a substantial amount of time.
