Mind you, humans, elves, etc. will have similar problems visiting non-cosmopolitan areas of dwarven or halfling or like-sized folk. Whereas in Giantville, it will be the Trolls who have the least problems "fitting in". The size issue is all relative, so it gets down to what is normal in the campaign.

And that is not even starting to consider that the troll would likely not care much for clothing or wether he scared people or not. His most preferable relation to humans would probably be dinning on them. Rather one sided for a roleplaying context :D

That's exactly the sort of prejudice that makes it so hard to be a troll.

And how much of that do you think one has to be exposed to before you decide to give people what they want and just roar and tear limbs off the little bigots?

I'm a little curious about what kind of games you're running if you allow Troll PC's?

A game where one has the option to play a race that is presented as a playable race in Character Law.

It's all relative to the gameworld. . . .like watch kindergardeners go up stairs, then contemplate the life of a goblin or halfling in the human world.

Not to make judgments but if a player played a halfling were-wolf I would give every person who attacked them a huge bonus to hit. Or I could just say no starting PC halfing were-wolfs.
But I can see where it would work in some games.

Not to get off of Troll Topics, but related to size and playing...

Wouldn't they assume a general man-size in were form? And if you use the total wolf transformation, it would still be a pretty big dog, IMHO.

But I was being facetious.  ;D I'm just thinking that the possibilities are there. If the GM allows that, then Trolls don't seem unlikely.. cursed Medusa that losses her Petrification ability, but still has poisonous snakes..(maybe she can give kidney stones.. sorry couldn't resist. :-[ )

For those who are interested, I just posted a new issue of Express Additions, which includes an option that revises how races are handled.

Timely topic. We've just added a Troll PC to my PBEM game. But he's not just any Troll. Anyone ever watch the TV show Kyle XY? Imagine if Dwarves decided to build a "better Troll?" He's fairly articulate but cracks floors and scares the locals just the same. PC's busily casting Facades and Change to Kind on him for limited trips into town...
