Friends and Rivals: Elementalist Spreadsheet errors
« on: January 20, 2013, 01:57:22 PM »
Hey folks,

Purchased Friends and Rivals a while ago. There appears to be an Excel problem with the Elementalist spreadsheets ("Excel found unreadable content in ..."). Anyone else have the same issue? (Am using Excel 2010) Or has ICE posted a fixed copy?

Thanks,
Old Man

Same with Gryx_Ranger, Halfling_Rogue, Human_Cleric_(combat_favoured) and Human_Warrior_Mage. The Rest opens without any problems!
I'm 100% sure that it wasn't a problem with an old Excel version I used during the time the product was released as I opend all of the sheets. Maybe it is an compatibility issue or a security issue which was addressed by MS in the 2010 version of Excel.

EDIT: It seems that all characters from Allen Maher have this problem (and only these). As fas as I know, Allen made some of the spreadsheets himself, maybe he used different Macros, which are not useable/allowed with the current office. But not sure here.

Interesting. (I haven't opened any of the others that you mention.)

Do they open OK with Excel 2003? I will have to give that a try, save it and then see if they can be opened with 2010 ...

Thanks!

FYI, for those who have it, Excel 2013 will open it - abeit in "Protected View" - but we can see all the bits and pieces ...
