G'day all,
Some of you have been following my works, so I've decided to put a blog together. If your interested in what projects I'm working on or what I'm thinking please check it out http://theartofrickhansen.blogspot.com/.

It's been awhile since I've last posted but here is my latest painting. You can see the process at my blog. Cheers!

Is it just me or are the linked images not working?
-
It's not just you, I'm not seeing them either
-
I dunno what's goin' on either, it loads up on my machine...gee I hate technology sometimes. Anyway, here's the direct link (http://theartofrickhansen.blogspot.com/search/label/ArtOrder%20Challenge) to my blog...if it dosen't work, let me know.
-
It shows as a broken link in Chrome also so I bet there must be something wrong with the way the image set to load.
Irronmaul, you might want to ask the ICE Web Tec what is up. I do not know who that is so I would post the question in the technical section and see if they have an answer for you.

Yeah, there's definitely something not right. Tonight I'll try and upload it from my own computer instead of a link.
-
Ok, I've uploaded the image from my computer...just have to wait for approval by a mod ;) Let's see if it works.

They don't show in any browser I have (IE, FF, OP, GC). However, looking at the link you use for image, I think the problem is that the link is going through Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol (https://...). See below (had to mess up img tag):

I have tried using such before at Real Role Playing forum boards and it never worked. To link an image, I think it has to go through plain HTTP (http://...).

Yes for HTTPS: you need to be logged in and I think in some cases you can have the link just not work instead of prompting you for a user name and a password.

Technology is good in many ways...but frustrating in other ways if you have little knowledge of it like me.

Here's a treat (http://) for those looking forward to the new HARP fantasy book.

You forgot to include the link.... it currently shows

I love the Changing Ways illustration!
-
I'm such a cluts...usually I check before I post, doh!
Here is the direct link (http://theartofrickhansen.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/high-adventure-role-playing-fantasy.html) to the page. It works this time ;)
"Changing Ways" is an experiment that I wanted to try...it's one of my favourites...glad you like it!
I've also been told that the "Warrior Mage" has a "Donna Tattoo" from an example in the HARP book...had no idea until it was pointed out to me.
-
G'day all, here is a sneak peek (http://theartofrickhansen.blogspot.com.au/) of some of the art in the upcoming HARP Martial Law expansion book.
-
Oooh nice! I really like 'The Shadows Have Teeth' although you've captured the facial expression of 'Shepherd of the North' very nicely.
-
Here's a sneak peek (http://rjhansen.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/eye-of-wolfmother.html) of some of my illos in College of Magics.
-
Just recently added some new stuff (http://rjhansen.blogspot.com.au).
Cheers.

Your work has come on phenomenally over the years!!!!!! :o
Are you by any chance channeling Leonardo Da Vinci? ;D

It gives inspiration to look at your drawings!

Well I've just finished draining the life essence out of another unsuspecting artists and delved back into the dark arts of channeling the old masters of the past to give me the ability to present another piece of artwork for your viewing pleasure. If you wish to see the process of this painting done in oils then please visit my blog.
Cheers,
Rick.

Nice painting.

Gorgeous rendering!!!
(but shouldn't there be more to her head - top left?)
-
Wet hair follows the form that it rests on as it becomes more dense with water. In this painting the hair also rests upon the arch of the ear making a sort of bridge from the curve of the skull to her ear. If there was more to her head it would look very unusual indeed.
-
Well done.
Perhaps some "drip tracks" ( I don't know what else to call them) on her face, as well as the drops that haven't fallen yet.
Her left eye looks very slightly larger than her right (left in terms of anatomy, right in terms of placement on the work)... but given the shape of her face, the direction she's looking and the POV, I'm not sure it wouldn't look like that in a photo either. Illusionary shapes caused by perspective are the rule, not the exception. She has a very straight-sided face with very prominent cheekbones, which seems to lend itself to that kind of distortion. Anne Hathaway is the same way, the apparent shape of her face changes with the camera angle from which you look.
The fact that the height of the face above the water is just precisely that needed to make her canine teeth touch the water's surface but no other teeth gives her a slightly wild animal/vampire look. Is that intentional? It's interesting, whether it's deliberate or not.

G'day all, thought I'd post a recently finished painting, it's oil on board.
"Thornwall Sprite"

That is just gorgeous! Captured that capricious look and lovely coloring.
-
Thought I'd share my latest efforts."Azure Breeze" 21"x 36" oils on tempered masonite.

Ironmaul,
Now that is a great piece of art. 8)
Are you going to be doing any of the art for the new HARP monsters book?
-
Thanks Alwyn, I appreciate the kind words.
No, I won't being doing any monsters, I think it was mentioned that GCP has already allocated artists for that project in the director's briefing IIRC.
Cheers,
Rick.
