Title: Guild Adventurer Three, with new Shadow World Adventure
Post by: Terry K. Amthor on April 07, 2009, 05:04:07 PM
The third issue of The Guild Adventurer is now available for purchase from guild.ironcrown.com (the TGC store on the ICE server), www.rpgnow.com (and www.drivethruprg.com etc.), and www.yourgamesnow.com

This issue contains The Quiet Time (a HARP/RM scenario in the Echoes of Heaven setting by Robert Defendi), Dust to Dust (a RM/HARP adventure by Marc Rosen), Identity Theft (a Spacemaster:Privateers adventure by Robert Defendi), the Keeper of the Thorn (a SW RMClassic/RMFRP adventure by Terry Amthor) and Money in Fantasy Role-Playing Campaigns (a GM support article by Laura Trauth and Terence Wynne).

I just downloaded it.

Looks quite fun. One thing I don't like, and which I saw in the adventures (except the one Terry wrote), is the way it gives NPC/Monster stats within the text rather than at the end. I much prefer the way Terry does it, saving all the stats for the end.

Otherwise, good stuff!

I do beleive my monster stats were at the end. . . .

Right now I'm focused on Emer but it's good to see an untouched area with two adventures plus the book.

I only hope that next issue the adventure is set on Emer.

Actually Fac Nicholas suggested that I set the adventure for GA IV in SE Emer in anticipation of the upcoming Emer III. And so I will. (So say us all!)

Thanks all, and if you can, take a moment to do a brief review at (wherever you bought it)

For those that have already purchased TGA#3 or previous issues, it would be much appreciated if you could write a review.

Cheers,
Rick.

Did so on Friday, but so far it hasn't shown up yet on http://guild.ironcrown.com/index.php?main_page=reviews

I guess someone is taking an Easter break.

It should have shown up now. And yes, I did take a short Easter break.

Best wishes,

I bought and downloaded the file today from RPGNow and whenever I try and open the file, I get the following error message:

Cannot extract the embedded font 'XMIEBP+CCDutchCourageLite'. Some characters may not display or print correctly.

If I click on 'OK' the pdf displays, but 99% of the text is just a series of dots (i.e: .. ... . .... ..).  Anyone else having this problem and does anyone have a fix?  I have both GA1 and 2 as well as every SW pdf sold and don't have this problem, this is the only file that's doing this.

Yeah, I have the same issue. As to fix it I'm not certain other than upgrade your Adobe Acrobat.

Nope, just upgrade and still didn't work.

Andrew and Nicholas are working on it. Others did solve the problem by upgrading, but ideally, the PDF should be compatible with at least Acrobat 7 (I think).

Terry

I'm waiting on getting hold of Andrew to correct one other problem before putting a revised version up on the stores for redownload, but the version I now have is safe back to Acrobat 6 as far as I can tell.

Best wishes,
Nicholas

Nicholas, I have seen that problem with the 'periods' in Acrobat before, but I don't remember exactly what it might be, unless for some reason Acrobat didn't embed the font properly (a separate issue from the dingbat problem on the Saralis map).

Just thought I would mention I have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat as well.  Looking forward to the patch.

I've put a revised version of TGA#3 up on the ICE-based TGC store and on RPGNow. So if you've bought it from either of those places, please redownload. This revision should fix the fonts problem for older versions of Acrobat and the icon issue on Terry's Saralis map. Please let me know of any other problems.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Best wishes,
Nicholas
