Title: Utha
Post by: Brimariis on December 02, 2007, 01:31:42 PM
What has happened to Utha?  He (with help) created the Eyes of Utha and empowered his son to guard them.  He didn't die to Kadaena.  According to history (.0), "Relying on sophisticated machines to alert them, the Duskwalkers place themselves in cronagenic hibernation... with the death of Utha - First Master of the Flows - their long vigil begins."  Did he sacrifice himself?  Did he transfer his soul somewhere, perhaps he embedded his presence within Daenku (hence why Daenku is half mad as he has another spirit inside him)?  Did Ondoval go back in time and slay him (and Utha died without reason)?

It was always my opinion that Utha and Kadena killed each other in the last battle.  However, a close reading of Vroom's website does not support that conclusion.  I wonder what happened?

I personally like the version when Ondoval went back in time to get the Dark Jewel and question Utha about "The Eyes".  Utha basically told him to "go to the Pales" and Ondoval and Utha faught.  Unfortunately, Utha already gave the sword away and well, Utha was found dead (perhaps a spell of just a nice brutal strangleling).

I would love to hear Terry's version:)

Uthat survived the battle with Kadaena.

Straight from the Nomikos Library ( or the compilated Master Timelines ) :

so he died

i think i've read somewhere that the effort to create the Eyes was too much for Utha, that put much of his essance in those items, to guard the planet.

That's my idea, maybe is still awake as presence, but nothing more.

That's the way i like to think about Utha.

Okay... would you prefer to know how I envisioned it, or decide yourselves (or, of course, you can do both).

I would love to hear how you envisioned it.  Did Utha choose the "blue pill"?

I suspect that he had to die to be able to create the Eyes. But that point of view is probably biased.

Tell us Terry.  While I love a good tease, and the more tease the better, I like satisfaction to be the end result of a good tease.  So share ;D

First of all: we might need to change the topic of this thread now.   :o

Second: Yes, please share Terry - the more info the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Of course we want to know your vision, Terry -- silly question.

In the meantime, here's what I've been going with in my games.

Alternative 1)  Utha left Kulthea and rests in Chronogenic stasis in case Andraax fails to keep the vigil and K'ta'Viir escape.

Alternative 2)  Utha died of old age, happily and with much relief secure in the knowledge that the next generation would keep the eternal vigil.  Althans are not immortal, after all, but extend their mortal years with chronogenic stasis and rejuvenation drugs.  This has alot to do with why they're so damn hard to heal, and also why they have this sad tendency to go mad -- their minds did not evolve for immortality, and didn't develop methods of handling it the way elves did.  I've always thought Savatage's When the Crowds are Gone captured this, which is why I have included it as a duet between Andraax and Ondoval in my work in progress Shadow World: The Musical

Umm ... a MUSICAL?

Yah... a musical

Consider this (http://www.savatage.com/bandinfo/albums/gutterballet/whenthecrowdsaregone.html) this as Andraax's monologue before going into Cronogenic slumber.

Or this (http://"http://www.winterdream.org/personal/gaming/rm/LMan/Page%201.php") as, well just see for yourself.
