I just uploaded Ice, the sequel to Ulcer. It's available on my store, www.finalredoubt.com/store. If you don't like using paypal, it's on RPGNow as well, but it's priced below the minimum checkout price.

I just read it and wanted to say that I really liked it.
I've even come to terms with the talking dog which I found a bit strange in the first story.
Will there be a third story?

Thanks! I saw the sale and was hoping you'd like it. I've written a third and a fourth. The third has been turned in with GerikGnome, but he's been sick, so I think he deprioritized it, as Product 4 files are hitting him now. The fourth has been through Writer's Group, but I haven't come back to it for a rewrite. I have a LOOSE outline that covers 6 or 7 stories, I think.
The talking dog. I think that you could produce some interesting theories about my subconscious from that dog.

Well at the end of the first story I feared the dog would somehow destroy the athmosphere of the following sotry. But now I think it is a good way of lightening the mood in the rather dark setting.
And I try hard not to speculate about your subconscious ;)

Bit of trivia. My college creative writing professor, Larry Harper, used to quote Hemingway. Hemingway said something like, "no matter how well you write, you'll never come up with a better way to say 'I looked at the dog, and the dog looked at me'." Larry wrote a a briiliant piece based on that line, one of my top ten favorite pieces ever. Because of him, in every piece of fiction I try to put in some version of "I looked at the dog, and the dog looked at me." I think my favorite was in the SM novel, which was something like, "He looked at the Tulgar. The Tulgar stared back."

I finally managed to buy and read the third story. So far it's my favourite of the short stories.
Oh and the line about the dog really stood out when I first read it ;)
