Martial Arts Questions
« on: December 12, 2007, 01:47:50 PM »
First, for weapon katas, am I correct that the weapon katas use the weapons size modifier to the critical result, or are they equal to the size of the characters unarmed martial attacks?

Second, looking at the grapple critical table compared to the strikes and sweeps tables, it looks to me like there would be no game balance reason not to make grapples another base martial arts style and drop the dragon style entirely.  Am I correct to assume that grappling being a style is a flavor decision or legacy artifact from Rolemaster?

1) Correct, use the weapon's size mod.

2) grapple would more equate to wrestling than a MA, but you can use it as another base type if you like.

From what I figured, grappling is sort of rolled up into the "sweeps" type of attack, which includes throws and the like.
