UNdead Monsters - Cause of Death?
« on: November 12, 2007, 06:13:00 PM »
Hi All,

Under the Undead Monsters entry in the HARP Core (and Harp Lite) it states that various undead types have various methods of dying and some have special abilities, etc.

Has anyone actually compiled a list of undead, their types, the special abilities (immune to stun, partially immune to stun, takes bleeders or not, types of crits that they are immune to or that they will only be affected by, etc)?

I know that MAFG has a few monsters (Vampire, Ghost, Wraith, etc) with their specific details but I think this should be listed in a table, with codes next to it, eg:

NAMELevelCriticalKILLING
Ghost5B,S,DSaltand burn the dead's bones
Skeleton1S,D*Burning bones (Fire)
Vampire10SBurn in Daylight (Stake through heart will immobilise)
* - Death occurs but will regenerate unless killed
B = Bleeders
S = Stun
D = death in x rounds or instant death

Something like that

Sounds like a good idea. Might be something for a HARPer's Bazaar ... Tim?
Something on undead and their vulnerabilities and resistances. And maybe some ideas about their coming into being - similar to RMC&M ... or would this be something that would steal material from the upcoming Something wicked?

Yeah... I second that motion ;D

I believe that undead information should have been included in the core book and, quite honestly, I have been apprehensive to use them because of the lack of detail. I mean skeletons should definitely not take bleeders... and how can undead be "stunned"?... do zombies take slash crits?... :-\

There are a plethora of questions on this subject and I think a Bazaar would be the ticket! ;D

Not a bad idea for a Bazaar at all! :)
My wizards are many, but their essence is mine. Forever they are in the hills in their stone homes of grief. Because I am the spirit of their existence. I am them.

Except of the table form, most of this information is already stated in M:AFG and I think how to kill an Undead depends on your setting.
So, I would prefer to see totally new stuff in the few pages of the bazaars  ;)

If we are going for new stuff in the HB, I would like to see some new, or altered, undead.  Such as the Vampire Lords hinted at in M:aFG.   :)
