I am back on the Eidolon revision with a vengeance. There is so much new material I've added for the new edition, and it has been stalled for way too long. All that has to be done is to beat the last new adventures into shape.

As someone who likes and is playing* D&D 5E, please don't. First, it is not OGL/D20, not at all, so they won't be compatable and second, while I am sure there are D20/OGL hold-outs (like there are RM2 hold-outs), I don't think this would generate any serious response by the D20 community. Of course, I could be wrong about that, but I don't think so. And, a totally unrelated reason, I think it would be down-right criminal to sully SW with the OGL - but that is totally unrelated, of course. (OK, to be perfectly fair, it might generate new traffic to SW, and perhaps even RM, just not sure how much.)

*This after being sure I would not play/like D&D again because of 3rd and 4th editions, especially 4th edition. Of course, as an RM lover, there are still things about it that I would like to change and would do differently in any 5E game I ran...

It's been a while since I properly played D&D, but I'm not sure that D20 is as dead as that. There's a heck of a lot of compatible stuff being published regularly on RPGNow, never mind the entire systems based on it (Pathfinder, Labyrinth Lord, etc) - and a D20 atlas would probably be at least partially compatible with some of them.

It could bring new traffic, both to Shadow World and to Rolemaster. Settings are often popular, and if people play in it, they may decide to give this Rolemaster thing it's linked to a shot too.

Yeah, I know. I just don't want them to use up their already stretched-to-thin resourses for a D20/OGL project; I am being selfish, I know...

Well, it apparently really just needs formatting and laying out. So, if someone from D20 did that, it wouldn't scavenge valuable RM/SW resources.

I know an editor with a chunk of D20/Pathfinder/OGL experience. Ping me if someone at GC wants the contact info.

Actually, for the SW Atlas OGL, we would need someone who does Adobe InDesign layout (preferably Mac), per page fee, and frankly, fairly inexpensively. And I am just speaking hypothetically; I have no power to commission it.

I don't know whether it would make much of a difference regarding sales or anything, but has a HARP version of the atlas been considered?

Actually, I think I have might heard about HARP stats being done for Shadow World, but I am not sure about the details. Nicholas would know more.

A HARP Handbook for Shadow World is on the List of products that I would be happy to see written.

Best wishes,
Nicholas

Not that I actually know anything about HARP, but what would you be looking for? A HARP conversion of SWMA3 or 4? Or something else?

Of course there is Terry, it's the if not largest at least most cosmopolitan and famous city on the Western Hemisphere :) Looking forward to reading about all those characters!

And happy new year to everyone!

Thanks, Arc, and yes there are two pages of descriptions (plus stats) of all new quirky, interesting, and maybe dangerous Sel-kai 'celebrities' for the PCs to encounter, not counting all the new NPCs in the new adventures. It's about 50+ new pages of material in all, plus some new artwork, and new layout.

Ah, Eidolon, it was a labor of love and still is. I remember long ago slaving over that city map back in C'ville, with my little brush and W&N inks...

Could there be not one, but TWO Shadow World books coming out in the next month or so? Maybe! Tales from the Green Gryphon artwork is back on track, and with everything else ready to go, we could see it in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, yours truly has been hitting the coffee (if only there were some gort/adderall! Just kidding) and the Eidolon new edition is crawling towards the finish line. What new terrors lurk in the canals of Sel-kai? What new intrigues among the wealthy, and what dangerous characters are scheming from inside and outside the city? Soon, yesss, soooon.

I will have to check on that. I think she is primarily a writer/editor and uses someone else for layout.

Waiting for the coffee to kick in before starting back in the last stretch on Eidolon, while also puttering with Wuliris and the Lethys edit.

There is a light at the end of the Eidolon tunnel! About 50-70 pages of new material... and I finally wrapped up several chapters and finished three new adventures over the weekend. Clawing my way towards completion!  :P :'( :o

Tales from the Green Gryphon Inn is inching towards completion! Last couple of illustrations have been coming in, so all that will need to be done is drop them into the layout and generate the TOC and Index. This Adventure/Setting book is looking to have a page count in the mid-80's. Meanwhile, I am still working towards an end to Eidolon. Yay!
