Amazons in RMFRP terms
« on: November 26, 2010, 12:44:57 PM »
Yeah, there are some guild companion articles on this very topic, but I thought I should open up the case.  Besides the popular culture of an amazon in a chain maille bikini, I did some checking.

all they were women who participated in battle.  With some nice poetic names such as Aristomache and Andromache, the Greeks had certainly given them names that they thought fit some of their personalities.  How many use Amazons in their campaigns and which training packages did you use?

I never use Amazons.  There is a kingdom of Amazons in Shadow World, but I have never refered to them as such.

I always picture Conan when Amazons are mentioned.  I also completely despise chainmail bikinis and ALL forms of worthless armor, oversized and realistic weapons and big numbers just fore the sake of big numbers.  These things belong in video games, not table top.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

Nope - there are sveral matriarchal cultures in Shadow World. Women warriors are most likely to come from such a culture. They still don't need different skills/abilities/talents or training packages ...

Training packages may or might be dependent on culture, that said in a Amazon culture most males would not be able to take some TP's.

That wasn't the nature of my question.  But allow me to restate it.  If you used an amazon culture (more on historicity rather than romance, Yamahoper).  Would they be weapon masters or some other kind of martial artist?  I tend to think of using some of them at least to be weapon masters.

IMHO yes as you can use an all female martial arts school from the east as an example.

IMHO it also depends on what you mean by Amazon Culture? What is the era like compared to Earth? Middle ages? Do the live only in huts or big cities like in London during the 1400-1500. IMHO there are a lot of things that come into play.
