Always wanted to use a D&D drow like race in RMSS.
I know I can create my own based on the grey or high elves or whatever but was wondering if the race existed somewhere officially.
Do you guys created and used the race in your campaigns ?

Shadow world calls them Dyari!
But they are not dark skinned like Drows.

I never looked at the Shadow World materials .. this could be interesting to incorporate in my next campaign !

There are also Drow (they are called 'Dark Elves' but the description specifically says 'Dark Elves, or Drow'... not sure how that got past the IP lawyers!) listed as a race in Rolemaster Companion I, p. 45 (with stats on the following page).

I introduced 'Shadow Elves'. They're the meaner, crankier ones that don't like humans spreading over what used to be their world and live in the murkier, more dangerous, forests.

Yes sir. Exactly what I was going to say (except for the IP lawyers part. :) )
The Dark Elves in our gaming world are very rare because of their nature and the description in the Companion. It's akin to having an evil PC in a party of decent (or at least morally fuzzy-edged) PCs. There are consequences when a Drow decides he's going to act out his nature and the players, if aware of the actions, will probably try to stop him. I had an in-party combat when one player tried to do something very bad that would have drawn unwanted attention. Had he survived, I would have awarded him well for playing the PC well, but 5 on 1 in RM2 is pretty difficult to survive. :D

They didn't publish the stats I did for them though for some reason. (attached as PDF)

I will definitely take a look at it if I need to create a Drow like character in the future
Thanks for sharing

Yes, very good article. We did have one or two people play a Dark Elf just fine, it was when the players wanted to play the Dark Elves as evil because that's how they perceived the character or they thought it would be fun to play an evil PC. Humans, Dwarfs, Gnomes can also be evil. It's like real life, don't judge people by the color of their skin.
