Physically these two races are the same, with the difference being that the K'ta'viiri have an aptitude with the Essaence. Is this correct?
Is it possible for a K'ta'viiri to have Althan parentage?
Thanks,

You are correct (until someone finds something that I said long ago that contradicts it). It's comparable to Muggles and Wizards. And yes Althans had children with Essænce abilities (also keep in mind that the race also meddled extensively with their DNA towards the end of the empire to produce and even more powerful race).

Mind blown. I only had the SM material to go on.

The K'ta'viiri were a family or clan within the Althan race, and initially they were most adept with the Essænce. There was mingling among the clans/families, but the K'ta'viiri always considered themselves the master of the Essænce, and this was part of what led to the wars. Think of Sargon from the ST:TOS series. "We dared to think of ourselves as gods."

Just to stir the pot a little more: are the Althan/K'ta'viiri the same as the Luar - as is theorized by the academics of the SM2 Imperium? I believe the answer is yes. Luar would just be another name for the Althans, right?

Yes, I believe so too. Although most of people in a position of power would likely have been K’ta’viiri.
