Title: RMSS / RMFRP Gamemaster Screen
Post by: Fingolfin80 on July 27, 2016, 07:53:24 AM
I was able to find a copy of RMSS Gamemaster Screen, but before I buy it I'd like to understand it's grade of compatibility with my RMFRP games. Anyone can help me on this? Are the table on this screen outdated?

I couldn't find a proper RMFRP screen, i found some informations about this:
http://www.icewebring.com/ICE_Products/Product_Page.php?product_id=272%20Rolemaster%20Gamemaster%20Screen (http://www.icewebring.com/ICE_Products/Product_Page.php?product_id=272%20Rolemaster%20Gamemaster%20Screen)
But I cant't understand if it is a real GM sceen or a book with all the charts. Besides, it doesn't make much difference, it seems sold out everyhwere.

I don't have it to check, but the only thing I would expect to be different is the SCSM table. In RMSS, the thresholds are the same as static maneuvers, and you add an extra 50 to the rolls. In RMFRP, you don't add the 50, and the thresholds on the table are lower by 50. Same result, but the table is therefore off by that amount. I would expect all the other tables to be the same.

Well, if that's all that changes I will buy it. I jus have to remember the +50 addition and that's not a great trouble.
Thank you for clarification!

Why a screen?

See this link: http://www.ironcrown.com/ICEforums/index.php?topic=17381.msg211764#msg211764 (http://www.ironcrown.com/ICEforums/index.php?topic=17381.msg211764#msg211764)

Or, the easy lookup tables?

Still wondering.

I woluld say there are several reasons for a GM screen. Secret dice rolling is one, and doing many rolls instead of one just to mislead players seems a huge waste of time to me.
The second thing is that the tables are needed, and having them organized on a screen is far more comfortable than using printed sheets or the manual.
In third instance, there are other materials that I use during my sessions that players should not see until the right moment. Yes, I could hide them some other way, but a GM screen resolve all these issues at once.
There are many things in a campaing to work on, and the gm has a lot to manage before and during the session in RM, I like it but I don't see the point to augment complexity while a ready-to-go screen could take away part of it without touching the game itself.

I see my page is missing a cover shot, and I'll have to add a few additional details to clarify what is included in the product.
