Slaying Large Creatures in Arms Law?
« on: August 06, 2008, 11:49:21 AM »
Has anyone ever noticed to slay a large creature, using a slaying weapon, you need only roll an A critical and receive a roll of 71-85 on that critical? (with the -20 the result is 51-65 instant death to the creature)  Should this not have been the result for 66 rather than 51-65?

Creatures that take Large Criticals ignore A crits.

Yes, slaying weapons are very powerful.  SOmeone once pointed out to me that 66 is an exceptional result, so the non lethal result is "exceptional".

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

Where does it say large creatures ignore A criticals?

Arms Law page 18,
Large Creature Critical Strikes ? Only critical strikes of severity
?B?, ?C?, ?D?, or ?E? affect large creatures (i.e., ?A? severity criticals are
ignored). A high open-ended roll is made and cross-indexed with
the weapon type on the Large Creature Critical Strike Table. The
result obtained is applied immediately. Note that the severity of
the critical strike is irrelevant, except that it must be of ?B? severity
or higher. This reflects the fact that such creatures present such a
large target that they are much more difficult to seriously hurt.
Super-Large Creature Critical Strikes ? Only critical strikes of
severity ?D? or ?E? affect super-large creatures (i.e., ?A?, ?B?, and ?C?
severity criticals are ignored). A high open-ended roll is made
and cross-indexed with the weapon type on the Super-Large
Creature Critical Strike Table. The result obtained is applied
immediately
