Will Contest possible Errata?
« on: September 06, 2007, 02:53:14 PM »
page 168 box "gm's options: will contest"

in CRR section of the box we can read that
to break control the character makes another will RR and must get higher than RR  result +10

or

to break control the character makes another will RR and must get higher than RR  result +10

but after few lines in the "breaking control" paragraph we read:
once a character get controlled, he may attempt to break the control at the times given above. he then makes a will-based RR against the original result from the RR column of the maneuver table, used in the original Will Contest.

so in the end i'am a bit confuse..
should i use the original value? or the original+10/original+20?

IMHO the character has always to overcome the RR result to break control. But, the amount of failure will increase the difficulty of the roll. Basically you should use the value given in the table, ignoring the "Breaking Control" paragraph (that's need only for completness, I suppose, since it says nothing more than the above paragraphes...).
So, if you fail you RR by 10, you have to overcome the RR number by  10, if you fail by 20 you need 20 more of the RR result, and so on...
I suppose a magician might, he admitted, but a gentleman never could.
