RMC & FRP on FG
« on: March 31, 2019, 07:00:21 AM »
Hi.

I've seen a few threads and requests about Virtual Table Top software, so i just thought I'd point out that the RMC ruleset for Fantasy Grounds is currently undergoing an upgrade that is being discussed on the FG forums, like what people want to see included, etc.

Also, there is a community created extension to the RMC ruleset that modifies it to use many of the FRP changes.  Another project plans to bring RMU to the table if it is ever completed.

Two things, first the RMC ruleset is licensed by ICE.  Second, they also offer a 30 day no questions asked refund on any thing you get from their store, so you can see if you like it.

The major ruleset overhaul was recently completed.  It took awhile but the result was well worth the wait.

A great demo of the ruleset in use can be found here on YouTube:

He also has other tutorials for the new ruleset and streaming from an active game that are fun to watch.

Wow, that looks great!

The interface is charmingly retro, and I really like the choices he's made as to what to display where.

Can't wait to try that, and I think this would be a good model for RMU!

Yea, they have done a fantastic job of highlighting all the new work Dakadin put into the ruleset.  I'd also mention that there are several other videos in that series, covering things like Parcels and Quests.

I'd be remiss to not mention that Fantasy Grounds College (no official affiliation to FG) has a set of really good videos on starting up with FG.  I particularly found the 3 part series they posted about 2 years ago incredibly useful.  Granted, they only cover FG Classic, and it is presented using a 5E ruleset.  However, the presenter tries to really only cover core concepts, not delve into 5E specifics too much.  I'm positive they've got newer videos that seem to cover the same area, I just know these and used the first one heavily for my upcoming FGC session.

For example, the 1st session (2hrs, 20 minutes) covers things like:
3:10 - elements of an encounter/campaign
14:55 - anatomy of a module
15:35 - clear chat text
16:25 - activate dice tower
18:58 - modules
29:35 - edit module to add entry
33:10 - edit new group
37:20 - using module content
40:00 - set up encounters/ adding custom grid / importance of adding a grid scale marker
47:00 - resizing the map
48:05 - masking the map
51:50 - import a pc to the map
56:22 - send npcs to combat tracker

It's all labeled in the video description.  Times aren't EXACTLY exact, but awfully close.
