If over time, all the new shiny and desirable things are for the new system then the appeal of the new edition goes up with every new companion or adventure that is released. Where and when the tipping point is reached will be different for each of us. For some people, they will never need to buy another book.

The major RPG companies publish all their old material that they have rights to, including the rulesets. I think the big exception is Chaosium who only publish 1E & 7E of CoC. It doesn't seem to stop people from buying the new rules, and it brings in revenue. As it is now, if someone wants RoCo II their only legit way to get it is ebay, or a dealer table at a con. That gives nothing to ICE, and the presence of RMU isn't going to stop people who want to play RM2 from doing that.

Unless something changes, new companions will likely take years between each release. I don't mean that as criticism, none of this is easy and people have their day jobs, it's just the way it seems to work right now.

Edit:
Counterpoint to that, all the old books are already available on the net. If someone would like to pay ICE for them, but they can't, that's lost revenue.
Not to mention ICE would probably be in a better position to shut that down if they had the rights.

I have all the print books, but I would buy every pdf and my print books would stay in slip covers

On DriveThru, Chaosium actually have a lot of supplements I can recognise as being either 4th or 5th edition, and some I know are 6th. There's very little from earlier editions than 4th; I can only recognise one from the cover.

Lack of PDF sale will leet people to sites like the throve... If you do a propper PDF of all RM2 books and sell them at fair price. My bet is that evry RM2 player will buy the lot just to own and have access to PDF all the time.

I mean the rulebooks they make available are 1E & 7E. AFAIK they are working to get all the supplements republished.

Still moot if there are no rights available to proceed though....

I hope that no one is illegally downloading books from the internet.

Very disappointed, I am afraid! But as I said, if people cant their hands on the books they want, they are gonna go to illegal download because its so easy sadly.

Ah, all I saw was 7E and Classic, so I stand corrected.

In an attempt to steer this back to “misc Shadow Material », I posted a blog re: using Umbar in SW.

May I ask which books? Are they Rolemaster or Shadow World? I know there is frustration that Emer I and II are not available, and I want to issue the new huge 2nd editions (along the difference of Haalkitaine which are largely complete, but I believe ICE is withholding those old '90s era books to increase the value of the new books. Sadly, as I am slow, these new books might be more than a year away. If you are tempted to download these for free, instead contact ICE and see if they might release the old editions for sale.

"The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you"
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had (ooh, ooh)
The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless, longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become..."

And...

Telegram force and ready
I knew this was a big mistake
There's a fine line drawing
My senses together
And I think it's about to break
If I listen close I can hear them singers, oh
Voices in your body coming through on the radio
The union of the snake is on the climb
Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break
Through the borderline...

Emer IV is looking more and more complicated... Not just some desert... BTW Duran Duran inspired Court of Ardor, the 'Rogue' Middle-earth module.

Have at the with another, that's...

No more paradise, no more soothing rain
All the sacrifice, the pain is all the same
Still I'm pushing onward, alone I can't deny
My presence fills the desert, my spirit never dies

Will these lonely nights ever end?
Will I live to see my journey's end?
As the world awakens me so hard, my values have been changed
I make a promise to myself: Never again
A dusty godforsaken path, endless to my dismay
I know these are the badlands, somehow I'll find my way

The vultures that circle, cloud the empty sky,
Patiently waiting, they wait for me to die
Tortured and beaten, blistered by the sun
Forceful and heartless, have the badlands won?

Bits of Coldplay's Viva la Vida make me think of Andraax.

Like the intro:
I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning, I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

Also Kamelot's Rule the World:

When a new day reaches dawn
I feel it's worth the wait
But I tumble and I fall
When up against my fate

When the barricades come down
I build them up again
When I'm just about to drown
I still don't know the end

Sometimes I tremble like a little child
That faces morning with a broken smile
Sometimes I crumble when the shades unfurl
Sometimes I feel that I could rule the world

Savatage's When the Crows are Gone has not only some Andraax...

I never wanted to know
Never wanted to see
I wasted my time till time wasted me
Never wanted to go
Always wanted to stay
Cause the person I am are the parts that I play

So I play and I plan
And hope and I scheme
To the lure of a night
Filled with unfinished dreams
And I'm holding on tight
To a world gone astray
As they charge me for years
I can no longer pay

...but Ondoval:

And the lights
Turn them off my friend
And the ghosts
Well just let them in
Cause in the dark
It's easier to see
