Thrilling moments and good scenarios.

Which are some of the most thrilling moments on your rpg sessions? And would you share some portion of the best scenarios you've played?
Example: In one of my middle earth campaigns as a GM, there was a moment when the king of Arthedain appeared to the PCs as an ordinary ranger in a Fornost tavern. They had been talking to him about the dangers they would be facing and their story without expecting that it was the king himself who had been listening to them all the while. I know that this sounds very Aragorn-like but the effect and the atmosphere of it where unexpectedly nice. The players where honestly surprised and did not expect a turn like this.
Also, i find some times difficult to find interesting scenarios (without all the usual rpg motifs). What are your best scenarios played?
