Powered armour
« on: February 19, 2010, 01:44:06 PM »
Whats the armour type for powered armour, is it X?
I can't find much info on power armour apart from equipment manual pg 38 and another book/pg I can't remember right now.

Are there any stats for this type of armour, i.e. possible attribute/skill enhancements ec?

I was thinnking of using the cybernetic stuff from robotics but apply it to the armour. For example, targeting bonus, hud, exo-skeleton etc.

Any thoughts?

Are you using SM:P? or SM2?

I know the write up for APE armor is in the SM:P Vehicle Man but I am not so sure where it is in SM2.

You could also use the Robotics Man to create a suit of power armor that would enhance you ST.

Did the info help? Or are you still looking for more info?

Yeah the info did help..found the APE armour in the vehicle manual.

I guess powered armour is treated like a vehicle. However...this brings up a new question. How does the skill for powered armour in the heavy armour category work?
I'm still wondering if the armour type is X. I guess it must be ???

There are two types are PA. One is treated like regaler armor and the other is treated like a vehicle. The GM gets to decide where the break is.

Armor types beyond X ie XI to XX are vehicle armor types. So as a GM IMO if you just add Strength enhancements, a HUD and a weapon mount then IMO it should be armor. [IMO you could also add some other stuff but it should be fairly light IMO] For a vehicle skill IMO it should have more of its own motive force. ie an engine.

Does that help a little? There is also a section in one of the books that talks about is powered armor a vehicle or is it armor. I think it is in the Vehicle Man but it also could be in the equipment man, basic book, or even Blaster Law.

Cheers Markc! Yes everything is starting to fit together now.
Thankyou so much.
I think the problem was that all the info was spread out between the various books. Thats not a criticism though.

No problem that is what the ICE boards for for, to help people out. Often is is something simple and other times it is a real head scratcher and other people often remember some little thing that we do not.
