Hi there!

Back once again with a question about mechanics. In our next session we're going to start using new characters and one of us is going to play a monk. He's naturally invested in adrenal defense.

But does it work with multiple enemies at once? Do you get full bonus against them all?

And how does it work against directed spells or ball spells?

Help a fellow out?

Page 168 is the dodging rules (Adrenal Defence is just dodging with a reduced action cost):

Quote
All types of dodging add to DB against all melee foes the combatant is aware of for the entire round.

Sorry? Which book is that? In RMSS player handbook? I can't find it.

The general RMSS descriptions of AD state that you must be aware of the attack/attacker and is worded similarly to parrying so it probably should only apply to one attack/attacker at a time.

RMSS table T-3.6 states that half can be used against directed spells(just like any ranged attack) and it doesn't work against area spells.

The description just says "The skill bonus of the Defender is added to his DB versus melee attacks. Against missile attacks the skill bonus is halved and added to the Defensive Bonus."

I read that as applying against all attacks, with the stipulation (as mentioned above) that you need to be aware that you are under attack. Parrying is covered in 23.2.6, and Adrenal Defense has its own heading 23.2.8, so AD isn't a type of parrying and I don't think the restrictions on parrying apply (e.g., you can only parry the foe you are attacking).
