Nomikos Library
« on: December 09, 2007, 09:17:20 AM »
I really thought there was already a sticky for this.  It must have been archived, so here's one now.

Nomikos Library is a complete searchable timeline and repository of knowledge for Shadow World.    You'll need to register and provide proof of ownership of any one of the four Master Atlases in order to use it.

Also use this thread for any comments or suggestions as well.

Looking for Volunteer Scribes at Nomikos!

Greetings all,

I've been busy of late, with the future not looking any less so, and have not been able to get to the entering of new timeline entries from Xa'ar, additionally there are a few other items that could be done:

- Xa'ar timeline
- Scouring of the Shadowstone Chronicles for any useful timeline tidbits
- Reviewing each canon source for any missing texts/scrolls/stories
- Setting Obscurity ratings on entries (so that in the future you'll be able to filter out entries above a certain Obscurity)

I'm looking for a set of hands, or a few sets, to help with these.  Anyone out there interested ?

- V

I'm interested, however in the next few months I think I wont have a lot of time (I'm supposed to finish my PhD before december). If I can I'll look for items in Xa-ar timeline.

All right, thanks guys.  I'm going to put together a brief tutorial with some screenshot.  It's a bit slow, as each entry needs to be input separately (each entry is a "post", Nomikos is a heavily modified instance of Wordpress, the popular blog software).    I'll get that together this evening and send you both a PM.  I'll upgrade your roles to Authors at that time which will allow you to make new entries and edit any of your entries.

Whatever and whenever time you could work on things would be greatly appreciated, any progress is better then no progress.

The first thing that should be done in the Xa'ar timeline is to go through it mark any entries in it that don't already exist or are different in Nomikos.

I'll be in touch.

Consider this an open request for anyone else interested in volunteering well.  I think there's plenty that could be added.

No problemo, let's start with the Xa'ar timeline.

Is there a way to find which entries in Xa-ar timeline are new or modified ones ?

If it would help significantly, I could provide a Word file with just the new timeline entries (at least hopefully just the new ones; at this point even I get confused). I might even have time this holiday weekend if I finish my next Guild Adventurer contribution. I don't think Nicholas would object to that portion of the module being released to the Library? Is there a way we could add other module buyers?

Also it would be great if some of the Shadowstone events were included as you mentioned V, especially some of the high-level secret meetings...

When I do it I usually go through each entry and check it against what's there to verify that nothing has changed, but if Terry's got just the new entried that'd be great - Terry, you can email it to me and I'll forward it along to mathhatt and moloch.

If you both are going to work on this you should probably split it up somehow.

I have updated the software Nomikos uses (wordpress) to the latest version.   There was actually a bug whereby whenever someone left a comment it removed the date information for that entry!   Luckily, folks weren't commenting too often.

I also decided that having multiple pages didn't really add much value, and so now any search will display all the entries on a single page.   This makes printing easier.  Please post if you think that having the results spread across pages worked better.    Note that there are still some entries (long text entries) that aren't shown completely in the normal view and you must specifically go to that entry to display the whole thing.

Hey Vroomfogle, apparently I was registered previously (unless someone else stole "OphieM"), but now I don't remember my password or what email address I used. I tried to re-register, but I have the SW Atlas 3rd edition and none of the questions seemed to fit.

I also have the boxed one (2nd ed.?) somewhere.

Just venting. I'll figure it out.

Hi there,
Anyone know what's happened to the library website? It seems to be down at the moment.
