I was wondering how people deal with genetic manipulation in terms of advancement, ie some societies have greater Gen Maip and keep it to themselves? Or share freely.
Thanks

We generally run with the idea that (we play in Middle Earth) the gods came up with the "best" but that spell list lets you tinker so that you can be more suited to a niche role or environment.
Morgoth tried to make better elves and ended up with orcs. Maybe the orcs, to him, were indeed better.
Gatekeeper to the Under-Dark: "Why are you seeking passage?"
Kal-El pauses in thought (briefly contemplating how to manage the Never Lie and Always Deceive curses on him), "I came to conquer all know-able universes".
Gatekeeper: You may pass.
Gatekeeper: Who are you?
Kal El: A tourist

Yes that is another front that I did not think so much about, the fantasy/middle earth angle.

I'd love to play in a Space Master game again...
I've played a hybrid SF / Fantasy which was fun. Blasters and Nukes vs Telports and Warp / Dust Spells. :)

eg, Teleport into a space ship (there are no wards of course) and cast Dust on that glowing box of lights.
We soon learnt to Spell Master the invis spell to cover more spectrums and the Cloaking spell list got dusted off too.

Nice, I love the expanded or spell mastery of invis and cloaking to cover more spectrum's. ;D

Markc,

I have yet to run a SM2 campaign but hope to do so in the future. My campaign will likely include bio-engineering as an important aspect of some of my societies. Some will have it cloaked in ritual & secrecy, while others will be open about it. The Imperium seems to be open to it with their Transhuman "races". I'll likely use the default setting with some tweaks & additions; I've been reading some Traveller books & supplements - they have some interesting bits I might steal & tweak for SM2. That said, I'll not likely run it, but I'll play in it. I'll only run ICE games & Lamentations of the Flame Princess.
