Are there ways to get older Guild Companion Issues?
« on: July 19, 2024, 05:59:54 PM »
Hi,
I was looking for some house rules for Rolemaster and one of the links that looked interesting was for the May 2002 Issue of the Guild Companion http://www.guildcompanion.com/scrolls/2002/may/revisedweapontables.html . The link of course is dead as the site no longer exists, and the issues accessible here go back to 2007.

I tried the Wayback Machine, but it was no good. Do you know of any way I can get the May 2002 Issue?
Thanks,
Greville

The trick with the Wayback Machine is to find the closest URL you can (i.e., one that is as few clicks away from the target as possible) and then redo the search. So for example you can start by looking for www.guildcompanion.com and get to the archives; if you can't get to the issue you want, you can copy the link, remove the https://web.archive.org/web/(date)/ part so you just have the original http URL, and then do a brand new search. Try multiple snapshots.

https://web.archive.org/web/20191128000308/http://www.guildcompanion.com/scrolls/2002/may/revisedweapontables.html
https://web.archive.org/web/20191128000308/http://www.guildcompanion.com/scrolls/2002/may/weapontable.xls

That said, the formatting of the examples seems like it got messed up.

And really, if you are looking for tables that resolve the issues mentioned there, I think you are better off looking at RMU which started from scratch and created full tables.

Hi

If you email me at colin-ice@hotmail.co.uk with the dates and rough ideas of the articles you want I can dig them out for you.

I am (painfully slowly) working on trying to get it all on the ICE website.

Thank you for both your replies. The links to the article got me what I needed for now.

I might check out RMU. I liked the first beta and the direction it was taking to simplify the skill list and reduce some of the admin involved, but lost track of where things were at.

RMU Core Law, Spell Law, and Treasure Law have now all been released and are available in print. Creature Law is still in the works.
