Has anyone tried converting Dark Heresy &/or Rogue Trader to SM2 ? If so, how did you go about doing so ?

I wouldn't bother as the rules presented for those specific games are just fine.

But translating rules always starts, for me, with the PC races & classes. You will also have to deal with the technology which is way lower than SM. the Psyker/Psion stuff whould be able to be translated over fairly easily, just increase the fumble range by a fraction of the PP in the power used to emulate the inherent problem with those powers in DH/RT.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Scratch that. Power attracts the corruptible.

Rules should not replace the brain and thinking.

With me it's the fact I prefer ICE based rules over the career based ones published in the books, but I love the setting. I just don't like having to learn a new rulesetif I don't have to. But finding players willing to try SM2 over the default system.

I think once you get some people interested in RM it will be easier to keep using the system. IIRC your group plays different game systems so take a break and then go to SM2 and DH. That way it does not seem like the same thing.
Also IMO a DH game would be a mix of RM and SM to make it easier to adapt and GM. I do not think that is a problem but some might.

Cool thanx marc.. yeah I might see if my group will be willing to let me eventually run a game. I might start with my WHFRP conversion first & if they like my style & willing to give DH a try , I'll do that. If not , I'll look for some local gamers openminded enough to give RMEx a try.

You might also think about picking up Rogue Trader before you start a DH game as the PSI skills are different and can add to a DH game.

I understand completely. Its a bummer on one hand that things cost so much but people have to make a living.

I think this'll take a back seat since I don't have the fundage for the books at this time. I'm going to focus on the WHFPG conversions , the Cyberpunk setting , the Cyberspace based P-A setting and my Star Wars spacemaster2 conversions at this time ..woo lots to do lOL.

After heaving read DH and RT I wouldn't bother to convert to RM. Too much work, no real benefit, and the rules are tied with the setting which makes convesion difficult.

WIll start a DH campaign soon.
