Layman
« on: January 12, 2010, 01:23:57 PM »
Anyone had good experience using this profession?

Im planning a Layman/Horticulturalist. Occupational skills: Horticulture and Herb lore. Everyman skills: Prepare Herbs, Use prepared herbs, Foraging etc.

Any thoughts?

Anyone managed to make other usable laymans? Seem a weid profession to go for, but DP costs are nice.

In one game I had everyone use the Layman profession and it worked great. I have also thought about having everyone use the layman profession unless they pay a TP/BO cost or roll 90 or above.

But yes they do have good DP costs IMO. I do not have any good stories of playing a Layman vs other professions but the biggist difference being the profession bonuses. But even then it is said for the GM to tailor the profession bonuses based on the person background.

I did play a healer layman once, with no spell lists but excellent first aid etc skills and good herbalism.  I was a member of the city guard, and had reasonable weapon and armour skills as well.  Not a bad character really.
