Star Wars Spacemaster2 conversion
« on: May 08, 2009, 02:27:09 PM »
I'll be converting SW to SM2 as soon as I get my print copy of my SM2 PDFs. I'll be using cyberspace & RM for parts not covered. Are there any SM2 based PDFs I should get to help with my conversions ? I know someone has posted about converting SW to SM:P but has anyone done so for SM2 ?

I do not know of any Star Wars to SM2 doc's out there but IMO even the SM:P stuff might help you out.

IMO starships are important to any Star Wars setting and game so I would pick up Star Strike for ship building as well as combat. For ground warfare you need Armored Assault but IMO that can wait a bit where as I might think SS is a core component.

If you have the old west end star wars it is very easy to convert the skill difficulties are the same and it is some what like a rank based system but with lots of d6. The west end system is badly flawed so converting it is the best thing to do.

Baddly flawed? How so? I loved the WEG D6 system, it was incredibly easy to pick up and run with, allowing GMs to focus less on the rules and more on the story, and yet still retained a logical representation of abilities one could perform.

And, IMHO, was the best system for The Force...

It had a few problems in character creation if you weren’t using a template. Also the gaming group I have will exploit any flaw they can find. I think every thing in it could be fixed easily but I don’t have the time or desire. Also seeing that it will convert to SM there is no need to fix system errors.

*snort* like RM/SM doesn't have loop holes players couldn't exploit :P

D6 was a smooth, simple system, though I haven't picked up the (relatively) recent generic D6 rules (D6 Fantasy, D6 SciFi, etc), I still enjoy a game of Star Wars from time to time.

It wasn't hard to jump right in a SW game. :)

Yes RM has some holes but I have an easer time filling those holes also I don’t use the setting for SM-P I have used SW setting in SM before.

Yes it is easy to jump in to the west end SW and I have had a lot of fun playing in that system but every time I have tried to run it it has been a headache for me.

I'll be converting SW to SM2 as soon as I get my print copy of my SM2 PDFs.

I think this is where I need to promote my SM2 character sheet again;) It will not help with SW conversion, but it may help with SM2 characters in general. It's Excel based like many others, so if that's not your thing then I can be of no help.

Cool I'll check out the sheet. The SW conversion is on the back burner as I don't have access to most of the SW:S books & can't find people into playing a SM2 conversion. They either want to play WEG's version or SW:S instead gah! So I might create my own Sci-Fi setting inspired by SW & a few other Sci-Fi movies/books & Anime I've seen or read.
