Hi folks.

As I was reading through CCG v.1 and C&T recently, I realized that no Racial Level Offset (C&T: p.117) information had ever been provided for newly introduced EA races such as Aesyr, Gryx, Phrenali and EA version Half-Orcs, IIRC. (Also, somehow Highmen from the core rulebooks seemingly have never been provided with RLO info.)

I guess, though RLO is merely an option from C&T and not included within the core rules nor CCG, it may be quite useful as a scale or standard for GMs/designers to create relatively power-balanced NPCs.

Is there any info? Or else, how should I calculate the RLO for newly introduced/created races?

Thanks.

I have heard from "other sources" that the High Humans have a racial level offset of zero if you use background options.  (The RLO is one without background options).

Thanks dutch206 :D

I guess there's some guideline to decide RLO for each race, if no specific calculation method exists, since all of the playable races in C&T and Companion One were provided with their RLOs.

Otherwise, maybe they were purely or partially outcomes of inspiration ???

Rasyr:

No "semi-official" advices or guidelines available at the moment on how to calculate RLO?

Thanks

IIRC, the RLOs were calculated to be worth the equivalent of about 40 DPs. I could be wrong though, as I was not the one who came up with RLO rules (that would have been the entire RMC team). Perhaps one of them will write up an article and submit it for Express Additions.

As for making a "semi-official" guess, sure....

(Without Background Options)
Highmen -- RLO 0
Aesyr -- RLO 1
Gryx -- RLO 1
Phrenali -- RLO 2
Vsori -- RLO 2
Half-Orc -- RLO 0

I've got the excel spreadsheet we used to calculate the RLOs, in my harddrive somewhere, along with the columns Cormac and I added for the RoCo1 races.

Thanks Rasyr for your helpful suggestion!

Any chance to upload the spreadsheet to the Vault?

Thanks!

I was en route to do that when it was suggested that it be done up as an article for TGC. . .it's like item #22 on my to-do list.

Neither do "administrative assistants" these days. . .the only secretaries you can find are the cabinet level positions at the white house.
