Combat Companion size adjustments

Love the companion, but I have a question on the modifiers in the table.  On the lower left hand of say the Bashing table it says the following.

Vs. Medium (Large) Creatures -10
Vs. Medium (Huge) Creatures -20
Vs. Large Creatures -15
Vs. Huge/Super-Large Creatures -30

What does the Vs.  Medium (Large) mean?  I am playing RMSS and am thinking the Large, Super Large are the only ones I will use.  Any help would be appreciated.

I think it's against creatures medium in size, but receiving Large/Super Large criticals due to supernatural resistance (i.e. a lich).

Yup, against medium critters who received large or super-large crits accordingly...
