Converting HARP creatures to RM...
« on: July 24, 2008, 08:21:08 AM »
High all,
I posted this on the HARP board, but it was suggested I post it here...

Does anyone have any ideas or points to consider when converting creatures from HARP M:aFG to RMFRP stats?

Any suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated!

And thanks!!!

IMO it will depend on the creature but I just might use the HARP creature in RM. The bigest difference IMO will be how spells are used between the two systems otherwise I think they are fairly close together. I say this because in general creatures do not have a lot of skills or other stauff, just combat mechanics.

OK...
Change DB to AT... I think I can manage
Keep hits the same...?
Keep OB the same...?
Spells will indeed be tricky and I may have to experiment some...

Anything I may be missing that may be of importance?

Again, thanks for any and all help! ;D

 Sorry,
I have not played HARP in a while so I forgot about the DB thing. Yes the DB to At IMO is going to be the hardest and I do not know of an easy way to convert right off the top of my head. If something comes up I will post it but I think you should just play it by ear a little. That is to say when you get RMC take a look at the armor table and they will have entries for varous animal armor types. I would estimate the HARPs monster AT an then take a way some from thier DB since it is going to be a lot higher. For reference I think there is a table in RMC that has varous professions and what thier OB, DB and skills might be. Use the numbers from that chart as a base. After a few games it should be easyier to guage what monsters might have.
Hits and OB I wouod keep tha same but you could adjust them by using the chart I talked about above. You are also right that spells is going to be the hardest but if you buy RMC Spell Law then it should be easier.

Also is there a reason you are not geting the combo-pack of RMC? As that woud give you the monster guide as well.

Well, I already own a number of copies of RMFRP...
And, with the new Cyradon/RM game coming soon... I dunno, I might just wait on that...

RM Cyradon won't have all of the creatures that are in C&T -- only those that are unique to Cyradon.

Sorry, I assumed that since I have mainly seen you in the HARP forums that you only had that system.
