Topic: The Magician - RMSS/RMFP Differences

The Primary difference/problem here appears to be the lack of the Power Manipulation Category in RMFP Core book and the bonuses associated to it. (I.e. Category and Everyman)

I have noticed that the other spell-using classes: Sorceror, Illusionist and Mystic (all re-introduced in RMFP Character Law, along with the Power Manipulation Category), ALL recieve Spell Mastery as Everyman. As they did in RMSS.

Now, since the Magican came before the re-introduction of the Power Manipulation Category and did have the Spell Mastery as everyman before (as did the others in RMSS) does this mean that the Magician should have also and this was just an oversight when RMFP Character Law was printed? 

Or have I just missed an errata somewhere?

I'd say it should.. plus a +10 bonus to the category.

Yes, it is an errata, you should use the RMSS version.

The +10 is shifted from power manipulation to another category. Magicians get a +20 to Power Awareness in RMFRP; this is probably a +10 in RMSS.

So I understand, but I believe that was because there wasn't a Power Manipulation category in the RMFP Core, it had been dropped and re-introduced in Character Law. So, the Magician wouldn't have been given a bonus at the time of printing of the core... but should have when the category was re-introduced in Character Lore.

A simple shift of +10 from Power Awareness would  bring it back in line with RMSS Magician bonuses.

There are very few changes between RMSS and RMFP. IMHO. A waste of time. Splitting the skills and classes meant that some classes ended up losing things that made sense.

I mean, the basic Essence user..not having bonuses in manipulating it. 

So, is there an offical errata?

That is the problem, other professions are corrected in their respective books, but the magician not, for example in the spanish version of RMFRP the magician is the same in ALL books.
Maybe is problem for some locations, I don't know about the original english version of RMFRP.

I've been out of town for the holidays, but heading home today.  I'll take a look at this either tonight or tomorrow, depending when I get in.

Comparing the Magician in RMSS to the main RMFRP book, the differences are that Magic Ritual and Spell Mastery are not listed as Everyman Skills in RMFRP, and Channeling is no longer listed as restricted skill in RMFRP.
Under Profession Bonuses, Power Awareness is now +20 instead of +10 and Power Manipulation has been removed. (was +10, skill is not in RMFRP)

Now, when I go and check the Magician in RMFRP Spell Law of Essence, all those changes have been reversed, Spell Mastery and Magic Ritual have been added back into the list of Everyman skills, Channeling is listed as a Restricted skill and under Profession Bonuses Power Awareness is back to being +10 and Power Manipulation has been put back at +10, making it identical to the RMSS Magician again.
