Questions on the Gorcrow in the Guild Companion
« on: January 09, 2016, 09:10:50 PM »
The latest edition of the Guild Companion includes a preview of the Gorcrow from the HARP Bestiary.
On it's list of stats it is missing the IQ entry which is standard amongst the creatures from the HARP core book. I find the IQ part to be helpful.

Also the Gorcrow's listed initiative is a 36, which is kind of high. Is it correct?

Racial Qu stat bonus is +12, racial In stat bonus is +3. Heroic stats add a further +8 to Qu and to In. Then +5 for Lightning Reflexes.

Best wishes,

Good Lord, then that is definitely not a level 1 encounter.

What are heroic stats?

A level 1 bird (be it medium or small) with an initiative of a 36 seems a bit much.

Correct me if I am wrong but does every creature no matter how big or small get developed just like a regular player character for each level with 50 development points per level (doubled at first)?

Questions on that:
1. Is there a difference in the development points allowed or do they all get the same as a PC or NPC does?
2. How does one get a +12 in a single stat?
3. Are there any 0 level or tiny creatures?

What are heroic stats?

A creature developed at Level 1 is not necessarily an encounter for Level 1 characters. Though note that while very fast, its attacks and DB are not so great, and would be reduced further if this was not a Heroic build - stats of 50 across the board would drop its DB by 16 and its Init by 16 also.

Heroic stats are suggestions as to what a prime specimen of a creature might have as stats.

Best wishes,
Nicholas

It's not a bird, it's a flying monster.

They get the same number but have different ways of being allowed to spend them.

2. How does one get a +12 in a single stat?

By being a monster and so allowed to spend DPs that way.

3. Are there any 0 level or tiny creatures?

Yes, some natural animals fall into this category.

As Nicholas has stated the creatures are monsters (unnatural, magic twisted, etc.), and also the prime versions of their kind at that.  In the full write up their stats, both base and the heroic component, are given so it is easy to roll them back to less than prime version.
