Do you mean the undead monster?  I as GM like them.  Have used them quite a bit.  very nasty critter.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

Are you working them into your RM Forgotten Realms Campaign?
IIRC, Skullport was an Underdark city for trade in FR. They used animated hands as couriers. Roaming packs of hands running around back alleys.. creepy.

IMHO, the RM stats are a bit high..
Lvl: 5C (2nd - 13th), but only Type II Undead
Hits: 60D Even without the D variability, 60 Hits is a bit much for one undead hand. But it's a Type II Undead Zombie hand... so like most undead, it has Level I crit reduction. This makes the 60 Hits a whole lot tougher.
Attacks: 60 MGr  (same attack as a Giant Panda, Python..)
and a C Cold crit each round from touch.
AT(DB): 1(15)  assuming normal hands, not trolls, etc.

This creature is pretty nasty. I like it. I'm going to incorporate this into the Vecna mythos- nasty mega lich's hand, major artifact.
Thanks for the reminder  :)

Thanks for the info on The HANDS. I can see some use for them in specialized locations and style of games.

While we're talking stats, what happens when one of these things grabs you?
The creature description says they don't let go until the target is dead.
So do they continue to do +60MGr each round there after?

Now that the thing ( :D) is locked on and you're taking the C Cold crit each round, how do you fight it?
Since it can't move, it won't have DB, but if you swing and miss, you'll hit yourself.
What are the rules for hitting leaches, ticks, stirges, vampire bats, mosquitoes or undead hands that are as strong as giant pandas but have a grip more painful than dry ice? How do you get it off, other than Death Trance?

It becomes a test of strength versus strength to remove the critter.  I give ita +7 St mod.  Roll d10, add St mod.  Who ever has higher total wins the round.  If Hand wins, apply cold crit.

The Hand CAN be attacked and being undead I would apply full DB plus 50.  The plus 50 represents the restarint in NOT harming your PC friend.  A blow that misses by 1-50 strikes the poor PC.  I'm a freindly GM, so I say the PC takes half damage and the Hand half.

I have killed thre PC's with this creature.  It is a vicious little brute

It depends on the girlfriends mood. (Sorry, couldn't resist).

That was how my players' felt.  That's how I felt. Roaming Hands?  Come-on!  So, I put in a Sassy Magic Mouth.

They are in Creatures and Monsters, but for some reason, not in the d20 MM.  It's based on Dr. Terror's House of Horrors and other movies with walking hands.  Thing from the Addams Family counts, somewhat.

and I did use them! :)

If I remember correctly, Clive Barker wrote a short story about hands that got rid of their owners due to perceived mistreatment and lack of respect.  ???

The story was nice, but I never had the urge to read it again. Was an interesting point of view but had no deeper meaning apart various aspects of easily overseen or forgotten transference and dependence. Oh, well...  ;)

Evil Hand Movies:
 The Hands of Orlac (1924)
 Mad Love (1935)
 The Beast w/5 Fingers (1946)
 The Exterminating Angel (1962)
Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (1965)
and Now the Screaming Starts (1973)
 The Hand (1981)

Although "Manos, Hands of Fate" sounds like a Horror film about hands, it's only a horrible film.
Definitely a popular theme!

Deadly undead hands are definitely more popular than most body part monsters. Sure, you get eyes, heads, brains, and maybe a heart now and then, but feet (Hopping Horrors) are all but ignored, as are lungs, livers, elbows, and knees.

Vincent Price did have the Tingler, for lobster spine alien creatures.  It's no devil bunny but I remember it being very dramatic in black & white. :)

And the Red Skeleton.

The Red Skeleton made many optional crit tables lots of fun, like the stress crit table for his puns and the alteration crit table for his lymricks, pummel for his pies (or Acid if he is angered).  Acid can work for joke attacks too when his humor is acerbic.

Red Skeletons make excellent Avatars of Gawds of Humor and the like.

Vorpal bunny?

Maan, I'm going to run out of arrows. May as well put my dragon up for adoption. Maybe I can escape while it's gnawing on one of the rogues.

Which of these had the male artist lose his hand while his female companion was driving and tried to pass a large truck (carrying trees? IIRC) on a twisting cliffside road.  The hand was lost off the side of the road but eventually came home...
At least that's the way I remember it.  It was b&w I think....
