DB va Attacks from above?
« on: September 19, 2010, 10:01:57 PM »
How would you decide a persons DB vs attacks from above? I guess on the first attack it would generally be a supprise attack as the party does not normally look above them...that is unless they are going after Ninjas. But after that would you give them full DB? How about armor protection or AT would you mod it for attacks on the head and shoulders?

Thanks MDC

There is a bonus for higher ground, if I'm not mistaken.

A bonus to surprise might be appropriate. Since the defender doesn't even know that their attacker is up there. They're not flying are they? :)

No the people on the ground are just on the ground and I was thinking of attacks from above for some strange reason and did not quite know how I would represent it in the game.

Higher ground is a +10 OB mod.  Surprise is +20.  Rear is +20.  Bonus could realistically be +50 on the first round, and +10/+25/+30 on consecutive rounds depending on flank/rear application.

Also, IF the initial attack hits, I would add to the hit result for rate object is falling/mass, just like the charging rules.  This extra OB add would then be used to fugure rap around damage on the table.

Range penalties will probably be quite severe for hitting with a dropped item.  Missile weapons are better of course.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.
