Torchwood Ses. 2 Ep.5 - Adam (spoilers) -Plot idea
« on: February 19, 2008, 02:40:31 AM »
I just saw this episode yesterday (A superb TV BBC series by the way).
I don't know how many people here wateches Torchwood? It's a "adult" spinoff on Doctor Who, and by adult not meaning pornographic ::)

Lookie here: http://www.bbcamerica.com/torchwood

Torchwood is described as "sinister and psychological...As well as being very British and modern and real." It is further described it as "a British sci-fi paranoid thriller, a cop show with a sense of humour. Dark, wild and sexy - It has more mature content than Doctor Who. Producer Russel T. Davies told SFX: "We can be a bit more visceral, more violent, and more sexual, if we want to. Though bear in mind that it's very teenage to indulge yourself in blood and gore, and Torchwood is going to be smarter than that."

So If you don't know it you now might have an idea about the series.

Well, back to this episode. The villan reminds me A LOT of a thematic demon. The being is only memories, he exists by placing false memories of himself in people, if no one remebers him he's gone. The being actually says it comes from the void, drawn to our world. A dialouge from the episode where our hero finaly caught the "demon" goes like this:

The being calling h?tself Adam can offer the hero access to some lost memories

Adam: "I can take you back there.....Before I die.

Jack: "Why would you do that?"

Adam: "I was in the void for so long, the colours of this world almost blinded me, Jack.
It was so beautiful after the darkness and the stench of fear....You gave me that....Let me do this for you."

Really..... This I thought was a superp episode. And something i'm going to try with my group someday. Placing a good friend NPC who really helps the group a lot, perhaps rescuing them a coupple of times wanting nothing but thanks and hugs in return. And then someday one of the PC's will somehow discover that their "Adam" is not mentionend in a log or in a Inn the group frequent. And that he's infact not  old freind but a demon who they just freed 2 days ago... How they are going to get rid of it I don't know -they can't do the same thing as Torchwood did? Or perhaps thay can?
hmmm...

Well... have anyone seen this show or this episode?
"It is said that the future is always born in pain. The history of war is the history of pain. If we are wise, what is born of that pain matures into the promise of a better world, because we learn that we can no longer afford the mistakes of the past."

Never seen it, but you just gave me a great idea for my ongoing campaign! ;D
I suppose a magician might, he admitted, but a gentleman never could.

I have, and it is a great show. The next episode will have Doctor Who's last companion, Martha Jones guest starring (for about 3 episodes, I think). Martha will also return to Doctor Who about the middle of its upcoming season.

Eagerly awaiting the next episode....

Living in Norway is nice, but we do lack a bit in the TV area.
The most popular american series normally show up here within a year of their original airing dates, but for less popular series we might never get them on TV here at all.
The first series of the new Doctor has aired here, but Torchwood I had to buy on DVD.

Looking forward to watching the second season of Torchwood as well.

Watched the first series, it was okay, but a third of the way through the second series I just got fed up with all the bed-hopping and over concentration on sex within the team - it just detracted from the otherwise good stories and characters, plus having worked in a high pressure closed team myself I know perfectly well such sexual tension would make it completely unviable in very short order  >:(
