We played Temple, Giants, etc too. As I recall it from back then it was great fun ;D Even tho you made a lot of new characters. Nejira is actually the name of my very first ad&d character (a rogue).

Elrik, the world is called Greyhawk which were the signature setting of Ad&d. Wasn?t half a bad world, though they messed it up with Iuz (halfgod/demon) taking over half the world (2nd ed. Release).

Forgotten Realms arrived in my hometown before Greyhawk and I know that Greyhawk was out years before. I live in northern Ontario, and at the time it was expensive to get games up here. By the time Forgotten Realms appeared, my buddies and I had left D&D behind.

We jumped in Spacemaster, then I got Shadow World boxed set, and realized I didn't have all the right rules. Had to buy the rule books and that took me years as I had to wait for visits south, or family members willing to venture into the 'creepy' gaming/comic/hobby stores down south.

Now that I sit here and think, a group of us would spend some time with Merry Jane and read the damage tables to each other. Giggling and sputtering like idiots... those where good times.

I have 8 boxes full of Gaming books and I always come back to Rolemaster and Shadow World.

Has it really been that long? Man I am old. Thank Oriana I am gaming tonight, have to recapture my youth.

She retired a level 14 fighter/ level 19 thief, after making it through ToEE, the Giants series AND the drow series.  Every other PC I made found a way to stay dead in that game.

That was, to many people, the classic D&D campaign - Temple, Giants, Drow, Demonweb Pits.  :) I know I've certainly run several groups through that sequence. Or, if I wanted to really really nasty, substitute Tomb of Horrors for Demonweb Pits. Never had a party actually complete that adventure. A few of them ran away, but no-one ever killed Acererak   :laugh1:

IIRC, That was kind of the idea.  I believe that module is where the expression "deathtrap dungeon" came from.

Nice, I'm in Ottawa, well Kanata actually.  Not many gamers in this area.  Most of the ones I met are not locals.

The SCA in that area has a boat load of Gamers. Not sure if you want to go that route. There are a number of good people in that area.

I have a buddy in the Ottawa Area but he is playing Rifts... opinion with held. He is old like me. =-)

SCA?  I've met about a dozen over the years.  Lotsa D&D, White Wolf, and some D20 Star Wars mostly

There are about 60 or so in the area. I know that most of them do White Wolf; they are all Vampires ya know. There is a large group in TO, and they have been playing D&D for ever. One of my sparing partners has been playing for over 6 years. Same group.

It's hard to break the D&D link... Sort of a problem I ran into a few weeks ago... but that is a new post as I want to hear other peoples ideas.
