Counting years: Why "Era of Ire"?

I couldn't find this in any of the material I own (which is now a lot, maybe I have overlooked it): Why are the years on Kulthea counted in "Eras of Ire"? Ire is referenced in the books neither as a place, nor as a person, nor in any other function?

It is mentioned somewhere, and if I am remembering correctly it has to do with the violent upheavals the world undergoes. It may be that it was mentioned in the original box sets from the 80s / 90s.

Ah, so "Ire" in the sense of "anger" or "wrath"? Now that makes sense. Thanks!
