Can I use ERA with Hamachi (vpn) software?
« on: July 13, 2020, 08:13:27 AM »
Hi,
I recently purchased ERA plus most of the RMSS modules. Because of the current situation with the covid-19 I cannot play in real with my friends. Is there a possibility to use ERA with for exemple a  virtual private networks on-demand like Hamachi? If so, how?

Thanks,

Mathieu

I've been using ERA with a VPN. I use http://noip.com/ to have a host name so the players don't need my IP.
No pre-written adventure survives contact with the GM.

Oh thank you for answering my question! Is it simple? Can I just use the IP of the ERA server with noip?

Hi. I can confirm that there should be no problem with just opening a port and accessing from outside.
One of my regular players is currently hosting virtual ERA sessions via Hamachi. I asked and he says there was not need for any specific configuration. They only found some speed issues when accessing if the host is in a different country.
